Buying a meeting table: round, square or rectangular?Bruneau

It may look inconsequential, but it is not, not at all. Which format meeting table should you choose? Does it have to be round, square or rectangular? Believe it or not: the shape of a meeting table can (partly) help determine the success of your meeting

Much will depend on the number of participants in the meeting. If that number is limited, a small round table will probably be the ideal solution. The participants sit close to one another and have direct eye contact, which makes the meeting an intimate in nature. It is possible to make quick decisions in this way. However, too much intimacy also has its disadvantages. If the meeting is not led very strongly, the discussion may quickly deviate from the agenda.

A square table is often chosen where the group is a little bigger. The atmosphere around a square table is (often) slightly more distant, but is not necessarily a disadvantage. A certain degree of distance can be good for the quality of the meeting. In general, the disadvantage of the square table is that the number of participants must remain relatively limited.

For a meeting with a large number of participants, a rectangular meeting table is the best solution. Those leading the meeting will be seated at the head of the table and ensure that the agenda is dealt with point by point. A square table makes an efficient meeting possible, but the shape of the table can also form a handicap. Around large tables, some participants’ minds may start wandering away from the subject of the discussion, for the simple reason that they are too far from the speaker(s). Then it is up to the chairperson or chairpersons to call them to order.

JM Bruneau has in its range, among other things, a rectangular meeting table measuring 120cm x 60cm. The table is coloured in warm, trendy pastel shades, which will positively influence sentiments during the meeting. The surfaces of the table have been manufactured from laminated steel plates, also with laminated edges. The base of the table consists of an epoxy lacquered metal tubular structure, which is height-adjustable. It is very easy to assemble the table. A trapezium-shaped table with almost the same properties as the rectangular one is also worth mentioning.

The Congress meeting tables are just as worth mentioning, as is apparent from the shiny aluminium base, the elliptical surface and perfect finish. The tops consist of thick laminated panels, which are shock-absorbing and have thick edges. The bases and support structures under the tops are in epoxy lacquered metal, aluminium coloured.
