The scanner is very good. I like the duplex function. The software could be a little better and less cumbersome though. i refer mainly to BR-Receipts. The lack of support for the software is a real negative as Brother and I have heard that you won't allow uploads of BR-Receipts in Canada. Its a shame because the hardware is very good. BR-Receipts could be a lot more flexible in the database dept. Better recognition of the various fields would be a good place to start and adding extra fields (columns) for ref#'s etc. so users can customize it to their needs would be a huge plus!
After all, whats the advantage to scanning receipts if you have to enter all the data and correct every one anyways.
Overall, gave it 4 stars as it does scan very well in both duplex and one sided modes. Paperport is so far the most useful piece of the software bundle as it is flexible and easy to use.

It is a nice unit and is easy to set up. Unfortunately, it doesn't do the one thing that I thought that I would get in a duplex scanner - it will NOT place both sides of the business card/insurance card into 1 file. This makes it harder to use within our electronic health records (EHR) system. I followed the manual, and spent a lot of time trying to figure this one out.
Finally I called tech support about this. It took a week or so for the right person to get back to me. (He apologized and said that he had been on vacation - which is fair enough.) He thought that the product did what I had hoped it would do. When I got specific about my needs, and he tried it, he promised to get back to me as soon as he figured it out. It has been a couple of weeks now - and still no call back.
